Walks in natural surroundings or tourist circuits will

The resort opens the doors to the Vermeille coast, magnificently
painted by many artists such as Joseph Fons, and whose sunny
name so well reflects the wealth of the four elements.

SPORTS AND LEISURE RESORT
At Port-Barcarès, you can benefit from your holidays
to recharge your batteries and practice all the activities
you could desire in a lively and fun atmosphere.
Thalassotherapy, Horse riding, Yachting, Wind surfing, Water
sports, Tennis, discovery of the Marine lake of Barcarès/Leucate
... to name just a few activities available during the day
and which may well end up with a welcoming sardinade, in a
night club or in one of the many sources of entertainment
in our resort.
Children are welcome in Port-Barcarès, and will enjoy
the many kid's installations and entertainment programmes:
fun schooners, games areas, beach clubs, Fiesta des pitchouns
events, sports activities, nursery, fairground, merry-go-rounds.
Intensive sports courses for kids in the different structures
in the resort. Mini tennis, Optimist, wind surfing, ponies,
scuba diving.
The resort obtained the national KID STATION label.

QUALITY ENVIRONMENT
This quality resort with 8km of class "A"
beaches has held the highly reputed EUROPEAN PAVILLON BLEU
for several years.
Resort cleanliness: the beach is cleaned daily with the riddler.
Resort safety: the beach is monitored from the 1st June with
lifeguards every 500 metres, 30 security agents, and 2 canine
and horse units.
Flowered resort: you will find the resort covered with flowers,
with 60'000 floral plants for the seasonal decoration of the
resort, and 200 ha of green belt looked after by gardeners.
The resort earned the national "flowered towns and villages"
award.

A SPACIOUS
RESORT WITH A WATERY LANDSCAPE:
4 AREAS, 4 HOLIDAY STYLESS
This area has existed since the end of the 18th century,
with the appearance of "brick houses" which indicated
the development of maritime activity in Barcarès. Today's
alleyways have maintained the charm and authentic style of
a fishing village. The odd palm tree is just typical of the
region and proves the warm Mediterranean climate which reigns
all year long at Port-Barcarès.
The resort also includes a seaside square with many shops
and a fun schooner for your kids to play in a safe environment.
During the summer season, orchestras, dance evenings and variety
shows can be found on the schooner. The square is also a meeting
place for petanque amateurs which may take advantage of the
shade under the mulberry trees.

Due to its opening between the Mediterranean sea and
the Salses lake, "Le Grau St Ange" was the ideal
location for the creation of a sea and leisure port. You can
still see trawlers full of fish, to be sold on the spot, or
wander along the docking bays to admire the sailing boats,
which attract the onlookers with their beauty.
Each year, the port hosts the Fisherman's festival on the
15th August, including Sétoise jousting, in which the
bravest players show their prowess, and the rowing races on
catalan "llaguts de rem", in the bassin de la Tourette
where the best male and female teams in the region fight it
out.
A traditional fisherman's village has been recreated. Come
and discover the original "casotes" and lateen sail
boats, used in 17th century fishing, in the lighthearted atmosphere
of the welcoming sardinades, where the "Sardana",
the famous catalan dance awaits you during the summer season.

Ideal site for relaxing and beach fun next to the
internationally famous Lydia, " le Paquebot des Sables
". This is a lively area in which the pleasures of the
night run free with the Lydia and Marina- Atlantide night
clubs.
This is also a cultural venue and boasts the Centre Culturel
Cocteau Marais.
Do not miss a walk along the Allée des Arts to discover
the different sculptures of the sand museum, such as the place
des Totems, and meet up with the Place du Tertre and its pedestrian
alleyways.

The 7000 ha marine lake is surrounded by all forms
of possible accomodation from the hotel residence to the marinas
next to the quant bays, just perfect for lovers of original
settings with character. This is obviously the venue for water
sports with the UCPA / the Centre Méditerranéen
du Nautisme, and the ski lift at the Parc des bosses, but
let's not forget the other sports activities on land such
as the Tennis courts at the Barcarésien Tennis Club.
Your wellbeing will be taken care of by the "Thalassol"
thalassotherapy institute.
And do not forget to pass through the Place de la Martinique
de la Coudalère, where events are planned each evening
in its amphitheatre.
